Game released! (+Differences from first game & known issues)
Phew! It. Is. Finally. Here!
Had this game planned since mid-production of the first Weather Caller and it's finally done! I'm so relieved right now, my chest is pounding and hands are shaking.
I haven't published a game since November 2023... well, after dabbing in gamedevving for like 3 years in a row, I inevitably got burnout that lasted for months, production for this game was a bit in-and-out until summer approached.
The things happened during this summer was a bit wild tbh. I left my job that I had for 4 and a half years, stopped taking antidepressants, got insurance debt, and even experienced a BSOD that nearly wiped out all the data files. 🙃 Thankfully! I was still able to salvage some of the data and since this was a sequel, not every bit was completely gone.
Even production itself was a bit wild. Aside from catching art errors hours or even months after finishing them, I cried a bit while writing out the dialogue for the ending scenes, I don't know if it'll have the same impacts on players, but it was something that happened.
Differences from first game:
- New UI sounds, I'm apparently not one of many people that are sick of the RTP sound files. But it was understandable.
- New Battle UI, wanted to make the most out of MOGHunter's battlehud plugin by making my own custom window skins for combat.
- New dialogue window colors. It's summer, things have brightened up.
- New character designs. It's a sequel, time has passed.
(Except for Professor Archibald, they're a troglodyte) - Bigger CGs, scaling them up like I did in the first game does them dirty. 🤕
- The skill Heavy Mist has been moved over to the Cloudy skillset, while Windy gets a new buff skill, Illusionary Clone.
- The skill Heatwave does 10% recoil damage instead of requiring HP to cast it. Hope you don't KO yourself using it!
- The skill First Aid now recovers HP and also cures Blind and Burning.
- The Skill Qi Gong now recovers 75% of HP and EP.
- Skill/State descriptions now tell you how long a status ailment/buff lasts.
- The Sludge status ailment now prevents you from changing the weather, it also no longer decreases stats though.
- The entrance to the Developer's Room has been moved to Professor Archibald's lab instead of Fallon's apartment.
- Fallon's bathroom now has a door, I finally found the right door sprite!
- Changing the weather no longer costs a turn!
- Changing the weather also removes associated buffs from the previous one. (example: If you're on Snowy and have Ice Shield on, but switch to Sunny, Ice Shield gets removed.)
- Every weather now has a visual indicator! Thanks to MOGHunter's Weather plugin.
Known Issues:
Whether I'll be able to fix this is a grand mystery...
- Sometimes the window describing the status ailment/buff will have either the window skin not shown and/or the text to appear black.
- Framerate stuff.
- Possible Typos and grammar errors. (I hope it's minimal)
- The Hidden Power skill that reduces Fallon's HP to 1 shows up as 0 damage, otherwise it still works.
- Opening song may not be in sync with the scenes on some computers.
Thank you all once again for reading this and for sticking around as I suffer.
Hope you enjoy the game!
